On June 3, 2024, in Geneva, Switzerland, the 112th session of the International Labour Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) was officially opened.
This annual gathering brings together over 5,000 representatives of governments, employers, and workers from 187 ILO member states.
Kyrgyz Republic Delegation
The delegation from Kyrgyzstan included:
- Edil Baisalov – Deputy Chairperson of the Cabinet of Ministers
- Zhyldyz Polotova – Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Migration
- Muradil Dzhumadilde uulu – Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan (FTUK)

Key Topics of the Conference
ILO Director-General Gilbert Houngbo outlined the key social and labor issues on the agenda, emphasizing their importance in light of current global realities.
Among the main topics discussed were:
- Protecting workers from the impacts of climate change and biological hazards
- Ensuring decent work conditions
- Upholding the fundamental principles and rights of workers
Meeting with the ILO Director-General
During the conference, ILO Director-General Gilbert Houngbo met with the delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic, led by the Deputy Chairperson of the Cabinet of Ministers.
During the meeting:
- Edil Baisalov highlighted the significant socio-economic progress achieved in Kyrgyzstan in the post-COVID period
- Special attention was given to:
- Accelerated economic growth
- Increased demand for labor
- Rising wages
Ratification of ILO Convention 190
As part of the meeting, a ceremony was held for the deposition of a ratification instrument to ILO by the Kyrgyz Republic, officially joining Convention 190 on the Elimination of Violence and Harassment in the World of Work.
