In the village of Sary-Oi in the Issyk-Kul region, from September 19 to 21, 2024, the first Spartakiad of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan (FTUK) took place. This extensive sporting event was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the trade union movement in Kyrgyzstan.
The Spartakiad program featured nine sports: mini-football, volleyball, table tennis, chess, billiards, and running, as well as competitions in national sports such as tayak tartysh, kol kürüsh, and arkan tartysh.
The Children’s recreation camp “Barchyn” facility served as the venue for vibrant competitions, valuable learning experiences, and unforgettable leisure for workers.
Union members from all regions of Kyrgyzstan and from every sector of FTUK participated in the event, with over 350 workers gathering for the national sports championship.
The aim of the Spartakiad is to encourage union members to engage in sports and to promote physical education as a vital means of enhancing the health of workers within union organizations.
The event’s program for participants included sports competitions that united and strengthened the collective spirit; educational lectures that broadened knowledge about the role of trade unions in the modern world; and an entertainment program where participants sang, danced, and enriched their cultural experiences.
In his closing remarks, FTUK Chairman Muradil Dzhumadilde uulu congratulated all the winners. He stated,
“I am glad that our Spartakiad took place in a very cheerful and friendly atmosphere. Over the course of three days, every participant showcased his physical abilities and will to win. I thank everyone for participating. This is the first large-scale sports competition organized by the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan for its union members, and I hope it will be an annual event. Once again, congratulations to all on the victory.”
