The Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan (FTUK) and the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights of the Kyrgyz Republic (CCR) announced the launch of a joint action plan aimed at combating child labor and protecting the labor rights of minors. The plan is designed for 2024–2025 and covers both the capital and the regions of the country.
Today, on September 24, 2024, the Commissioner for Children’s Rights of the Kyrgyz Republic, Asel Chynbaeva, and the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan, Muradil Dzhumadilde uulu, signed the joint Action Plan.
Under the signed action plan, trips to Bishkek are scheduled to visit markets, landfills, and service sector facilities to assess the situation regarding child labor. Additionally, joint trips will be carried out in the regions of the country, where markets, service sector facilities, and other locations with a high risk of child labor exploitation will be visited.
This work will be carried out by the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan and the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and a representative of local self-government.
As part of the joint work, brochures, pamphlets, and social videos will be prepared to provide informative content on children’s labor rights.
Starting in October, lectures will begin for 8th–11th grade students and college students on labor rights, gender equality, and protection from violence (ILO Convention No. 190).
