Trade Union of Textile, Light, Paper, and Related Economic Sectors, Industry, and Services of the Kyrgyz Republic
During the Soviet era, the first trade union organizations took shape in Kyrgyzstan, including those representing the interests of textile workers. Trade unions played an essential role in organizing labor, providing social protection for workers, and improving their working conditions.
After Kyrgyzstan gained independence in 1991, trade union organizations underwent a period of adaptation to new economic conditions. A key task was to preserve and strengthen workers’ rights, including those of textile workers.
The textile workers’ union continues to play a vital role in promoting social justice and protecting the rights of those employed in Kyrgyzstan’s textile industry, working for the benefit of its members and the country’s workforce at large.
Our industry union has more than 8,000 members and over 80 primary organizations. Currently, the textile workers’ union of Kyrgyzstan actively works to safeguard employees’ rights, support social programs, and regulate labor relations. It participates in collective bargaining, advocates for employees’ interests with the government and employers, and strives to protect labor rights.
